Gaurav Jalan is the Founder and CEO of mPokket, a one-of-its-kind digital lending platform catering to the underserved youth of India.

A fintech, management, and value investing enthusiast, Gaurav has been leveraging technology, analytics, and his rich professional experience to supplement cost-effective delivery of credit to those segments of the population that are often disregarded by traditional financial institutions, through mPokket. As the Founder and CEO, he is responsible both for providing strategic direction as well as overseeing the on-ground execution of the company’s strategies.
Upon having received his BA degree in Economics and Computer Science with Magna Cum Laude honours from Amherst College, the most prestigious liberal arts college in the USA, Gaurav began his career in management
consulting by working as a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Co.’s New York office.

Throughout his tenure spanning three years, he worked on multiple projects with clients belonging to industries like technology, financial services, consumer products, and pharmaceuticals. Post this, Gaurav completed his MBA with Beta Gamma Sigma honours from Columbia Business School in NYC, which is considered among the top 10 business schools across the
globe.

Subsequently, Gaurav joined Fidelity Investments as an Investment Analyst in its recently started Mumbai office where he was responsible for leading research on a number of sectors including capital goods, healthcare, utilities,
telecom, aviation, etc. After spending five years at Fidelity, Gaurav started his entrepreneurial journey as the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Avant Garde Wealth Management, a SEBI registered PMS provider, where he managed more than USD 10 million in assets.

He subsequently started advising ultra-high net worth individuals and companies via Blue Mountain Holdings, a SEBI registered Investment Advisor.

The vast majority of the youth in India fall in the low-income category and typical financial products, including credit products, are not designed to meet the needs of such individuals.

Gaurav aims to make mPokket a one stop provider of financial services for the underserved youth of India. mPokket will accomplish this by expanding its
portfolio of credit products and catering to other financial requirements of this population by introducing new products such as micro-insurance, investment plans, and transaction banking.

When not investing his time and energy tapping the massive potential of the fintech sector, Gaurav spends his leisure time reading, playing squash, and running.
